About This Role

The Division of Financial Services seeks a detail-oriented accounting professional for the role of Grants Specialist within the Administrative Support Center – Financial Operations team. The open position serves nine units reporting to the Assistant Vice President and Director for Extension, reports to a Business Manager, and collaborates with four Accounting Coordinators.

The Grants Specialist is responsible for the financial management, compliance oversight, and lifecycle administration of sponsored projects for departments supported by the Administrative Support Center. This position serves as a primary resource for budget development, expenditure tracking, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance for externally funded grants and contracts.

The Grants Specialist works closely with faculty, departmental staff, and central finance offices to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely management of award funds from proposal development through closeout.

A successful candidate for this position will thrive in a collaborative environment, enjoy developing relationships across multiple units, have great attention to detail, and be a leader in customer service standards and communication.

Worksite Description

This position is Hybrid eligible. This position is hybrid eligible; however, the first 90 days are required to be 100% on-site. After that period, hybrid eligibility may be granted based on individual performance, with a requirement of three days on-site.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and five years of relevant experience. Requirements may be met through a combination of work experience and education.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, or Related Field
  • Experience in higher education business operations, with additional preference to those familiar with KSU policies, procedures and systems.
  • Excellent Written Communication and Customer Service Skills
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Applications such as Excel and Word

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship
