About This Role

Kansas State University is seeking a Graphic Designer to join the Division of Communications and Marketing. This position plays a key role in supporting and advancing the university’s visual identity through strategic, high-quality design work across a variety of platforms.

As a member of the division’s Creative Services team, the Graphic Designer will serve a broad range of campus partners, including academic colleges and departments, student success units, the Office of the President, the Office of Enrollment Management, the Office of Recruitment and Admissions, and others. The designer will help bring their communications to life with engaging, effective visual solutions.

The ideal candidate will be creative, results-oriented, and highly collaborative, with the ability to take direction as well as develop and lead projects from concept to completion. This role works closely with colleagues across disciplines including photography, writing, marketing, web services, and video production. The Graphic Designer will also meet with campus partners to better understand their goals and ensure design solutions align with and support those objectives.

This position reports to the Creative Director.

The Division of Communications and Marketing team offers a variety of services to assist you with your marketing and communications needs. Our team takes a collaborative approach in our work with all university units, ensuring your marketing and communications efforts are aligned with institutional priorities and university policies/guidelines. Additionally, we support key university initiatives by preparing communications toolkits and materials that empower you to lend your voice directly to the cause.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two years of experience as a graphic designer or similar position.
  • Strong editing skills and attention to detail are critical.
  • Two or more years working with and developing projects for clients.
  • Experience with illustration, motion graphics/animation or other specialized design fields.
  • Background in brand development or logo/identity design.
  • Experience with publications and layout work.
  • Experience with an online project management system.
  • Excellent communicator with strong written communication skills and the ability to communicate well.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.
  • This position uses a computer, printer and various design production equipment, sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Microsoft Office
