About This Role

The HR Representative provides comprehensive HR support to Extension units served by the Administrative Support Center (ASC). This role ensures compliance with university, State of Kansas, and federal regulations while delivering high-quality, customer-focused HR services. The position partners closely with ASC-HR leadership to support recruitment, operational services, payroll processes, and performance management.

Key Responsibilities include:
• HR Operations & Compliance: Helping to advise Extension leaders and employees on HR policies, procedures, and regulations related to employment, pay, time and leave, and benefits. Ensure consistent and compliant application of policies.
• Recruitment & Hiring: Managing full-cycle recruitment for Extension staff and student positions, including requisition creation, interview scheduling, and employment actions (hires, promotions, terminations).
• Payroll & Time Administration: Processing and reconcile time and leave data, ensuring payroll accuracy, and meeting submission deadlines.
• Projects & Continuous Improvement: Supporting special projects, resolving complex issues, and contributing to process improvements and customer service excellence.
• Performance Management: Coordinating and monitoring completion of employee evaluations to ensure compliance and timeliness.
• Records Management: Maintaining accurate, audit-ready employee records and position descriptions.

The Division of Human Resources partners with leaders, faculty, and staff across Kansas State University to build a thriving, people-centered workplace that supports the university’s mission of teaching, research, and service. The division includes approximately 50 professionals delivering strategic and operational HR services to the campus community. Key functional areas include ASC-HR, Benefits, Compensation and Organizational Effectiveness, Employee Relations and Engagement, ERP Systems, Resource Center Operations, Talent Acquisition, Talent and Organizational Development, and Time and Leave. Together, these teams partner with campus units to provide responsive HR support, enhance organizational effectiveness, and help attract, develop, and retain a talented workforce.

Worksite Description

This position is Hybrid eligible; however, the first 90 days are required to be 100% on-site. After that period, hybrid eligibility may be granted based on individual performance, with a requirement of three days on-site.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and three years of relevant experience. Requirements may be met through a combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or bachelor's degree in human resources.
  • Two or more years of relevant experience in human resources and/or payroll.
  • Experience in data entry, payroll, recruitment, human resources, and customer service.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to determine priorities, exercise sound judgment and work independently
  • Willingness to learn new software, to develop additional skills, and to engage in professional development
  • Ability to exercise discretion and uphold confidentiality
  • Demonstrated background or knowledge of human resource processes and policies

Additional Role Information:

  • Eligible to become a Notary Public upon employment.
