About This Role

The College of Veterinary Medicine within Kansas State University is seeking applicants for a Human Resource Representative. This position’s responsibilities include assisting with all Human Resource functions for the College of Veterinary Medicine departments: Anatomy & Physiology (A&P), Dean of Vet Med (VMA), Veterinary Medicine Support Services (VSS), Diagnostic Medicine/Pathobiology (DMP), Clinical Sciences (CS), Veterinary Health Center (VHC), and Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (VDL). This position provides support in personnel/position management and serves as a float position to assist and backup other HR Representatives in the CVM responsible for onboarding of new employees, offboarding of terminating employees, recruitment processes and time and leave processes. Assists Human Resource Manager with preparation of reports, evaluating data, provides input and ideas for areas of improvement within Human Resource processes for the College of Veterinary Medicine.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • 3 years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal skills, ability to work independently
  • Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management or business related field.
  • Leads by example by exhibiting integrity, dedication and positive attitude towards the CVM and Kansas State University.
  • Knowledge of the terminology, principles and procedures of human resource management.
  • Knowledge of the federal laws applicable to a comprehensive human resource program as well as state laws, rules and regulations applicable to human resource functions.
  • Knowledge of the K-State policies and procedures regarding human resource functions.
  • Knowledge of the methods and practices used to evaluate and interpret data and compile reports in narrative and statistical form.
  • Ability to plan, analyze details, develop and formulate recommendations for implementation of human resource processes and functions.
  • Ability to read and comprehend detailed and verify procedures used to resolve a variety of human resource issues.
  • Ability to analyze human resource issues and formulate logical recommendations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with agency officials, other employees and the public.
  • Ability to evaluate, maintain and implement technology solutions to human resource processes.
  • Knowledge of spreadsheet applications. Ability to work in a team setting.
  • Experience in human resources for higher education.
