About This Role

This position exists to perform skilled preventive maintenance to building equipment in a large university setting. Coordinates with other technicians and trades employees to diagnose problems and refers issues requiring specialized training.

About Us

The Division of Facilities' maintenance personnel conduct routine maintenance on building systems and equipment to ensure the operational reliability of our campus' building systems. This maintenance involves regular, scheduled service to maintain equipment functionality without the need for immediate repairs. Many of the older buildings have systems and equipment that have exceeded their expected lifespan, highlighting the value of a strong preventive maintenance program.

Worksite Description

This position is On-site.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires one year of relevant experience. Various training and/or certification may be required. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by a hiring manager.
  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prefer ability to troubleshoot and possess the hands-on experience with industrial type exhaust fans, air handling units, heating/cooling ventilation, change and rewire ballasts, and utilize wiring diagrams to install according to manufacturers’ specifications.
  • Prefer ability to read, understand, and work from wiring diagrams.
  • High school graduate or equivalent is preferred.
  • Four years of experience in the mechanical or building trades or crafts, including at least two years of experience in two separate mechanical or building trades.
  • At least two years of experience in mechanical, heating/cooling ventilation (no certification), electrical, carpentry, and/or plumbing is preferred.
