The Office Specialist II / Receptionist plays a vital administrative role in the Department of Agronomy. Its main goal is to foster a welcoming atmosphere at the Agronomy main office while providing professional administrative support to the Faculty, the Department, and the Agronomy Parker Memorial Library.

About Us

The Department of Agronomy, together with the Research and Extension Centers, provides statewide leadership for teaching, research, and extension activities in plant breeding, crop production, range science, soil science, and weed sciences and contributes substantially to activities in genetics, water science, and environmental sciences.

Worksite Description

This position is On-site.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • One year of relevant experience
  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of English, spelling, grammar, and pronunciation.
  • Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of standard formats of letters, memos, and reports.
  • Knowledge of principles, methods, techniques, and equipment used in electronic keyboard operation.
  • Ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to proofread narrative and/or numerical copy.
  • The skill to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.
  • The ability to remain calm and poised under pressure.
  • The ability to promote a positive image for the department, the college, and the university.
  • Ability to use a computer and various software programs, and be willing to learn new programs and equipment as available.
  • Specialized knowledge of MS Office Suite to include tables, merge and columns in Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Excel, and Access
