About This Role

The Agronomy Department at Kansas State University is looking for an Office Specialist to provide administrative support for the Agronomy Soil Testing Laboratory. This position is an integral part of the lab serving as primary contact, and providing support to log in sample information for both public samples and research samples. Daily management of the Soil Testing Lab office including well maintained workspace. Communication with clients regarding questions, concerns, email reports as well as provide information to costumers.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or technical school degree with emphasis in office practices and one year of word processing experience on a computer.
  • Read, write, speak, and understand the English language, including the correct use of grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Ability to promote a positive image for the lab, department, the college and the university.
  • Knowledge of modern office practices. Maintains a professional appearance and communicates in a friendly and clear manner.
  • Poise, tact, patience, and cooperativeness are a must in dealing with the public.
  • Ability to remain calm and poised under pressure is needed.
  • Be able to use a computer and various software programs to include the most current version of Microsoft Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Additional licenses / registrations / certifications:

  • Valid driver's license.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.
