About This Role

Housing and Dining Services (HDS) seeks qualified applicants for an Office Specialist III to provide first tier customer support. This individual will be part of a team who demonstrate exceptional customer care and offers the opportunity for daily interactions with students and/or parents.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Serve as a customer care associate to address inquiries regarding on-campus housing and dining options, application, contract procedures, and general information about residence halls, Jardine Apartments, dining centers and the department.
• Process all on-campus housing contract cancellation requests. Schedules in person or video consultation with each applicant to inform of procedural and financial obligations related to cancellation.
• Compiles and audits data related to contract and calculates financial obligation for each cancellation request.
• Audits daily departmental cash deposit and transports to banking facility.
• Monitors various payments and deferments to determine impact to department.
• Performs other general administrative/office support tasks.

Worksite Description

This position is On-site. The service nature of this position requires work to be performed on-site.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with broad range of clientele both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to interpret rules, regulations, policies and procedures
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work
  • Ability to represent the department and university in a professional manner
  • Completion of college courses
  • Experience in a customer service environment and strong commitment to providing exceptional service
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Knowledge of cash reconciliation and basic accounting
  • Knowledge of office practices and procedures
  • Strong computer skills to include demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office environment, specifically Excel

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.
