About This Role

The Department of Entomology at Kansas State University seeks a motivated Research Technician to support a collaborative research project between KSU and USDA-ARS. The employee will work closely with the principal investigators to assist in laboratory experiments related to stored product insect pests.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assists PI with laboratory experiments when tasked are assigned.
  • Help prepare samples for analysis or testing.
  • Help maintain insect colonies used in research activities.
  • Clean, calibrate, and store laboratory or field equipment properly.
  • Support researchers with day-to-day tasks as needed, including cleaning work areas and organizing materials.
  • Assist in setting up research stations.
  • Assist in Collecting and compiling data.
  • Accurately record observations and measurements.
  • Assists principal investigators in organizing data provided by the PI, formatting tables, and assembling visuals for slides.
  • Sharing information with professor and other working in the lab.
  • Communicate with other employees working in the lab.
  • Adhere to safety procedures.
  • Follow established laboratory protocols.

Worksite Description

This position is On-site.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a high school diploma.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • B.S. degree in Entomology or a related biological science
  • Previous experience working in a laboratory setting
  • Strong knowledge of insects; familiarity with insect handling, data organization, internal communication, and experimental design.

Sponsorship eligibility:

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship
