About This Role

The purpose of this position is to support the research activities of the Applied Swine Nutrition team. Additional support is needed to maintain the high level of research output that is being generated.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Implement research according to protocols
  • Assure the integrity of data collected for swine studies conducted at the KSU Swine Teaching and Research Center.
  • Support the activities of graduate student-led research efforts to-Ensure that protocol objectives are met for research conducted at KSU and off-site research facilities.
  • Support protocol development, diet formulation, and data review of research trials conducted by swine graduate students.
  • Support and lead publication efforts in Swine Day articles, ASAS abstracts, and peer-reviewed papers journal papers

About Us

The K‑State Department of Animal Sciences and Industry (ASI) serves students, livestock producers, and the animal and food industries through teaching, research, and outreach. The department prepares students for careers in the animal and food industries by providing a strong academic foundation and applied learning opportunities.


The curriculum includes coursework in nutrition, reproduction, genetics, behavior, meat science, and food science, along with production, management, and agribusiness principles. Students develop professional and scientific skills through a comprehensive education and practical experience that prepares them to contribute effectively to the animal and food industries. Students also receive academic advising and mentorship from faculty and professional staff and participate in extracurricular activities that support leadership development and industry readiness.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Valid driver's license

    Education beyond the minimum degree requirement may count toward required experience if deemed relevant by the hiring manager. The degree requirement ensures candidates possess the advanced theoretical knowledge, highly specialized methodologies, and critical problem-solving skills fundamental to this work. These competencies are typically developed and rigorously validated only through the comprehensive curriculum and intensive experiential experience inherent in a formal degree program.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Animal Sciences or related field
  • Swine diet formulation
  • Oversight of swine research trials.
