Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine is in search of a Research Associate. This position is for a Research Associate/Laboratory Manager holding a combination of skills in Next-Generation Sequencing, Microbiology and Laboratory Management, to provide support to ongoing research activities in the Souza-Neto Lab. The selected candidate will provide support to a multitude of projects, including, but not limited to emerging vector-borne diseases, zoonotic and animal diseases, and animal/food-borne antimicrobial resistance. Furthermore, the incumbent will play a critical role in managing the research laboratory, writing and editing SOPs, assuring compliance to biosafety and training to personnel, providing support to experimental design, purchasing and budgeting. The position requires the individual to display critical thinking and independent judgement with direct guidance from the Principal Investigator.

Minimum Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:
At least two years of experience in managing a research laboratory and conducting/providing technical support to cell culture, microbiology and molecular biology techniques, including next-generation sequencing and qPCR. Experience in working with BLS-2 pathogens and compliance with biosafety guidelines and regulations.
