About This Role

The Study Abroad Advisor provides guidance and outstanding professional service to students before, during, and after their educational experience abroad. The Advisor informs students, parents, faculty, and staff about various study, internship, service, and research opportunities abroad, and coordinates with relevant academic and administrative offices. The Advisor also assists with coordinating program and application processes and participates in campus recruitment and promotion, as well as participant selection.

The Study Abroad Advisor works with overseas partners to obtain information regarding application processes, course selection, arrival information, accommodation, and other relevant information. Some national and international travel is expected.

Worksite Description

This position is On-site.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Two years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in a field related to International Education or Student Services
  • Experience working with multiple, ongoing projects and activities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience communicating with people from a variety of cultures
  • Significant experience abroad (ex: study, intern, volunteer, travel, or work)
  • Experience counseling, teaching, or working with students, preferably in higher education
  • Experience with Study Abroad or Academic Advising
  • Experience with student recruitment and campus outreach initiatives
  • Experience with online application management systems (i.e. Terra Dotta)
  • Experience in public speaking and coordinating training
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the various aspects of international travel (passports, visas, geography, languages spoken, currency, politics, modes of travel, etc.

Preferred licenses / registrations / certifications:

  • Must be able to travel, national and internationally

Sponsorship eligibility:

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship
