The Kansas State University Department of Modern Languages seeks a dynamic individual for a full-time (non-tenure-track) one-year position as Instructor or Teaching Assistant Professor of Japanese. This is a nine-month position for AY 2025-2026. The successful candidate will teach up to seven courses throughout the academic year, across all levels of the undergraduate minor in Japanese. We seek candidates with experience or promise in teaching Japanese language and culture courses from the beginning to the high intermediate levels. Experience or qualifications to teach a graduate course in the teaching of English as a foreign language are a plus. Service responsibilities may include running a Japanese conversation table, planning Japanese cultural events, and contributing to departmental initiatives and committees.

We offer courses and programs in Arabic, Chinese, Classical Studies, French, German, Japanese, Spanish, Spanish Translation, and the Teaching of English as a Foreign Languages (TEFL). There are undergraduate majors in French, German, and Spanish as well as an MA in Modern Languages and an MA and graduate certificate in TEFL. There is an undergraduate minor in Japanese.
