    About This Role

    The Veterinary Health Center (VHC) within the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking applicants for an Emergency Room Veterinary Assistant. The purpose of this position is to provide assistance to VHC veterinarians, veterinary students, and Registered Veterinary Technicians in the performance of their duties to improve the efficiency of the ER service and improve client service experience. This position will provide clerical and patient care support, triage, perform charge entry, and serve as a medical scribe and electronic medical record specialist in the Small Animal Emergency service. This position will assist with ICU inpatient patient care, restocking, and ward maintenance during ER down time.

    What You'll Need to Succeed

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • High school diploma
    • One year of relevant experience

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Two or more years of experience as a veterinary assistant providing patient care.
    • Ability to work with and provide preventative maintenance for ordinary veterinary medical hospital equipment.
    • Ability to handle, restrain, and provide medical treatments to domestic animals including exotic pets.
    • Willingness to master new techniques.
    • Demonstrated experience, knowledge, and comfort with Word and Excel software.
    • Ability to provide software instruction to a variety of audiences.

    Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.
