General Description of Position:

Postdoctoral Scientist position needed in the Division of Biology at Kansas State University working in the laboratory of Dr. Michael Veeman.

Job Description:

Conduct experiments detailed in recently funded grants from the NIH and NSF to Dr. Michael Veeman. The NSF project focuses on the mechanisms of asymmetric cell division as used to shape the Ciona notochord. The NIH project aims to dissect gene regulatory and phenotypic similarity networks active in notochord morphogenesis. The experiments will involve embryology, microscopy, next generation sequencing and quantitative data analysis.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Computational Biology or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

Excellent oral and written communication skills. Previous experience in developmental biology research Previous experience with confocal microscopy and multidimensional image. Previous experience with molecular biology and recombinant DNA methods. Previous experience with quantitative imaging and image analysis. Previous experience with RNAseq and/or ChIPseq. Previous experience with scientific computing (unix command line, matlab, python etc.).

Physical Activities and Environmental Conditions :

Working in a research laboratory.
