Fellow (Post Doc) Manhattan, Kansas On-site requirement
The Department of Diagnostic Medicine/Pathobiology within the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking applicants for a Fellow (Post Doc). This position is for a Post-Doctoral fellow to conduct independent research as part of a newly established research team at K-State (Souza-Neto Lab). This position focuses primarily on studying the interplay between host/vector-virus-microbiome in agricultural and zoonotic arboviruses. The selected candidate will engage in research activities encompassing a wide repertoire of modern technologies including WGS, RNA-seq, 16S microbiomics, gene silencing and genome editing to identify target genes and microbes important for virus infection/transmission that could be further used to the development of countermeasure tools to such diseases. This position is part of multidisciplinary and collaborative activities that will require engagement with collaborators within and outside the college, including USDA, and requires dedication to activities related to insect vectors (mosquito) rearing and manipulation, and eventual support to animal. Duties would include planning and conducting experiments; writing and editing manuscripts/articles; establishing procedures and techniques; and provide educational guidance to students. The position requires the individual to display critical thinking and independent judgement as it relates to ongoing and new molecular, viral, host and vector research with direct guidance from the Principal Investigator.
Veterinary Assistant- Small Animal Surgery Manhattan, Kansas On-site requirement
The Veterinary Health Center (VHC) within the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our dedicated Small Animal Surgery team to provide exemplary patient care. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide support for the surgery team in caring for client, teaching, and research animals in the VHC. Though there are many ways Veterinary Assistants provide support, some of the key ways are through enhancing help during busy surgery schedules, assisting with teaching opportunities, and helping with research projects. Individuals in this role will also provide meaningful support through maintaining inventory, organizing necessary equipment, and monitoring and assisting in basic aspects of patient care. Effective communication and leadership skills are utilized daily. Normal work hours are Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm with a rotating emergency on-call schedule.
Budget/Fiscal Coordinator Manhattan, Kansas On-site requirement
We will be hiring a part-time Budget/Fiscal Coordinator in the Office of Military and Veterans Affairs, but the individual will be an Administrative Support Center employee that is allocated to the OMVA. This is a new model that is being used by the Division of Communications and Marketing (DCM) in the President’s Office with our new communications officer, which is allocated to the President’s Office, but is an employee of DCM. This role will be able to help the OMVA deal with invoice processing, budget reporting, etc., but will be able to provide enhanced services to support OMVA with travel logistics, office supply ordering, etc.
