Fellow (Post Doc) Manhattan, Kansas On-site requirement
The Department of Diagnostic Medicine/Pathobiology, College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University invites applications for a full time, 12-month, Post-Doctoral Fellow position. This Post-Doctoral position for independent research including but not limited to viruses such as Influenza, African swine fever, Vesicular Stomatitis, Rift Valley Fever, Monkey Pox and other select agents under both BSL-2 and BSL-3 bio-containment conditions. Duties would include planning and conducting experiments; writing and editing manuscripts/articles; establishing procedures and techniques; and provide educational guidance to students. This position is part of a very busy, successful research team whose main goal is to develop rationally designed vaccines and diagnostics against high-consequence foreign animal, emerging and zoonotic disease threats. The position requires the individual to display critical thinking and independent judgement as it relates to ongoing and new molecular, viral research with direct guidance from the Research Science Manager and Primary Investigator. The research is conducted at the BSL2 and BSL3 level of containment and utilizes several select target animal models such as pigs, cows, chickens and mice. The position requires the acquisition and maintenance of a DOJ Select Agent clearance.
Academic Advisor Manhattan, Kansas Remote eligible (must reside in US)
Join the dynamic team of academic advising professionals in K-State Online Student Success and Advising to provide advising for current students in K-State Online programs, including nutrition and health and others, in shared efforts to retain and advance students in online undergraduate bachelor’s programs. Utilize excellent interpersonal communication and relational skills to help students reach their career and academic goals. Engage in collaborative advising conversations with online learners while assisting them in academic and course planning, professional preparation, and connections to university resources. Be able to understand the characteristics and needs of adult online learners, and best practices for advising online students to identify issues and make appropriate referrals. Work closely with partner colleges and the online team of academic advisors to coordinate communications and advising practices to students. Utilize various student information systems to assess student progress and record contacts in digital notes systems. Collaborate and meet regularly as part of the student success and advising team. The Online Academic Advisor reports to the Executive Director of Academic Advising in the department of Academic and Career Engagement within the División of Academic Success and Student Affairs.
Intern - Equine Manhattan, Kansas On-site requirement
The equine internship at the Veterinary Health Center is a 12-month post-DVM clinical program that provides clinical training in equine surgery, internal medicine, theriogenology and field service. Animal Technician II Manhattan, Kansas On-site requirement
This is a relief emergency milking position. Duties include setting up milking equipment, carefully moving cows to and from the milking parlor, prepping cows properly for milking (predippping and cleaning of teats), diagnosing abnormal milk (if mastitis exists then proper milking and disposal of milk must occur), attaching milking machines, and post-dipping teats after milking. The employee sanitizes the equipment before and after each milking shift. In addition, the employee coducts regular inspection of the milk tank compressors, milk line and pump to ensure bulk storage tanks are operating correcting and cooling milk before, during, and after each milking shift. Other miscellaneous animal care duties may be assigned during the milking shift.

Research Associate Manhattan, Kansas On-site requirement
The Research Associate will be involved in conducting ongoing research in identification of protective African Swine Fever Virus (ASFV) antigens, formulation of prototype vaccines, and conducting immunogenicity and efficacy studies in pigs. Additional area of research will involve testing efficacy and cross-protective capabilities of novel Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus (BVDV) mosaic antigens in cattle and testing prototype Bovine Parainfluenza Virus-vectored SARS-CoV-2 vaccines in rodent models. Some efforts will also be directed at on-going studies focused on identification of Bovine Ultra-Long antibodies against several target antigens of interest for development of peptide-based therapeutic drugs, adjuvant development, and optimization of Lateral Flow diagnostic tools and EliSpot readouts of interest for which there are no commercial products in the market. The on-going research projects on ASFV and BVDV will utilize multiple live vector platforms, and studies will be conducted in commercial swine and cattle at BSL2/3 levels.
