About This Role

The School of Consumer Sciences, within the College of Health and Human Sciences, is seeking an Academic Program Specialist Assistant to join their team. This position will provide support for the school through preparing reports highlighting program accomplishments, developing and implementing consistent social media plans and well-crafted postings, maintaining websites, supporting student groups (peer mentors/ambassadors), supporting student socials and well-being activities, and coordinating and supporting school events, such as graduation celebrations. This position reports to the Interim School Director.

Additional duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide administrative support to the school director and associate director
  • Support the associate school director with course and curriculum processes
  • Assist faculty and program chairs in delivering programs to stakeholders through gathering materials, coordinating calendars, etc.
  • Support and systemize school, college, and university planning and reporting processes
  • Support external student competitions through helping prepare presentation materials and providing administrative support to faculty members sponsoring competitions
  • Assist with events and outreach activities for the school and programs, working in collaboration with the HHS Dean’s Office communications and marketing team
  • Attend school and program events as needed to ensure successful execution
  • Develop and ensure adherence to event planning process/timelines and checklists to ensure goals and deadlines are met
  • Manage and update display case and bulletin boards
  • Assist the Dean’s Office communications and marketing team in maintaining promotional materials for the school and programs

The Personal Financial Planning Program offers Certified Financial Planning (CFP) Board-registered certificate, B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degree programs on the Manhattan and Olathe campuses and online; and graduate certificate programs in financial therapy and advanced financial planning. What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • Four years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Self-motivated, team-oriented, and a consistent commitment to a high standard of excellence
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience managing projects and working with students, faculty, and staff
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and best practices, specifically Facebook, Instagram, X, and LinkedIn
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
