About This Role

The Assistant/Associate Professor in Agricultural Education is a 12-month, tenure-track faculty appointment with 70% teaching and 30% research responsibilities within the Department of Communications and Agricultural Education.


• Teach, advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in the agricultural education program.
• Develop and redesign courses and curriculum to meet the needs of students.
• Advise student organizations, assist with student recruitment and placement and supervisor student interns.
• Conduct scholarly activities relevant to departmental/college initiatives; secure extramural funding for those activities; serve on external agricultural education-related boards and departmental, college, and university committees.
• This position may require work to be performed outside of normal business hours for activities such as: recruitment, advising student organizations, sponsoring and chaperoning student travel, conference hosting/attendance, grant-funded projects, international travel, etc.

Worksite Description

This position is On-site. This position is required to be performed on-site. Work is performed on employer premises or designated assignment location.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must hold earned doctorate in agricultural education, extension education, or closely related field by the time of appointment. (Summer 2026)
• Professional experience of at least two years of successful middle and/or high school teaching in agriculture.
• Strong record and interest in teaching, research, securing extramural funding, scholarly writing and service activities.

The degree requirement is necessary for accreditation purposes and to ensure candidates possess the specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities that can only be attained through a formal educational program at this level.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Teaching in post-secondary education and distance learning.
• Recent experience in supervising teaching interns.
• Recent experience in field-based education.
• Have or be willing to obtain CASE certifications.
• Familiarity with contemporary national reform and education issues.

Additional Role Information:

• Scholarship and experience in line with the rank of Assistant or Associate
Professor. For consideration at Associate Professor rank, the selected
candidate must present a demonstrated record of scholarly activity in
teaching and research commensurate with the Associate level.
