About This Role

The Department of Civil Engineering at Kansas State University seeks applicants for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor with an anticipated start date of Fall 2026.

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses and develop a vibrant research program in structural engineering. Strong candidates with a Ph.D. degree from all research focus areas in structures are encouraged to apply. However, special consideration will be given to applicants with the following research accomplishments and interests:

  • AI and ML in Structural Engineering
  • 3D Printing of structural components using various constructions materials
  • NDT/SHM, behavior, testing and analysis of transportation infrastructure
  • Innovation applications in steel structures with or without seismic emphasis
  • Behavior of innovative structural systems with new and/or sustainable materials
  • Computational structural mechanics for a variety of structural systems

This position is On-site.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS in Civil Engineering and PhD in Civil Engineering or a closely related field

The degree requirement is necessary for accreditation purposes and to ensure candidates possess the specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities that can only be attained through a formal educational program at this level.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • The ability to obtain professional engineering licensure

Sponsorship eligibility:

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.
