About This Role

Be part of a cleaning team that provides services to K-State residence halls and other Housing and Dining Services facilities. Our full-time, benefits eligible team members ensure that facilities are clean, sanitized, tidy, and appealing for our student residents and guests. Hotel type services may be provided for University guests.

Participate as an engaged team member to ensure facilities are clean, sanitized, tidy, safe, and appealing for residents, faculty, staff and guests. Duties include:
• Performs a variety of cleaning and minor repair tasks including trash removal; vacuuming; dusting; mopping; washing and disinfecting surfaces and fixtures; cleaning and sanitizing restrooms.
• Provides hotel type housekeeping services for conference groups and other guests.
• Completes other duties as assigned. May be asked to attend conferences and workshops. May be assigned to clean other areas or to fill in for absent employees. May be required to serve as a “lead” employee or “fill-in” custodial specialist.

Worksite Description

This position is On-site. The service nature of the duties require the work be performed on-site.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Some experience in cleaning or housekeeping
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to learn the operation and care of vacuum cleaners, scrubbing machines, polishing machines and other janitorial equipment
  • Ability to work harmoniously and effectively with others and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to perform very basic repair/maintenance tasks

Preferred licenses / registrations / certifications:

  • Bloodborne Pathogens training to be completed upon employment.

Additional Role Information:

  • Work requires sufficient strength to stand the strain of working long hours at custodial tasks and repetitive stooping, lifting, bending, twisting, reaching and climbing.

Sponsorship eligibility:

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.
