Kansas State University seeks an energetic, dependable Custodial Specialist to help us fulfill our mission of learning, scholarship, creative endeavor, and research by creating and maintaining an environment which contributes to the health and safety of students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This position supports K-State’s mission of learning, scholarship, creative endeavor, and research by creating and maintaining an environment which contributes to the health and safety of students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This position plays an integral role in maintaining and sustaining university structural assets. This position is responsible for first impressions, thus playing an important role in student & faculty recruitment and retention. This position performs a variety of custodial functions to include cleaning, disinfecting, minor equipment repair and preventative maintenance. It will be required to utilize a broad array of chemicals and operate a variety of power equipment in maintenance of floors and other duties. The position will also perform a variety of miscellaneous tasks as assigned by leadership and must be able to work with minimal supervision. This position requires the ability to frequently interact effectively with university students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Direct supervision is from the Custodial Services Supervisor. Hours are 5:00 a.m. – 1:30, with occasional call back for emergencies.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to operate a wide variety of commercial janitorial equipment and understand/follow explicit instructions, both oral and written form.

Additional licenses / registrations / certifications:

  • Could be called into work in emergency situations including but not limited to inclement weather, flooding caused by weather, accidents or infrastructure failure and recovery from other catastrophic events (tornado, fire, blood, etc.).
  • All candidates must be 18 years of age.

Sponsorship eligibility:

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.
