About This Role

The College of Agriculture at Kansas State University Seeks a Director of Communications and Marketing. The purpose of the Director of Communications and Marketing is to initiate, implement, and assess the college marketing and communications strategy for effective student recruitment, alumni relations, and College of Agriculture stakeholders through collaboration with executive leadership.

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Develop a strategic marketing plan that aligns with the College’s strategic initiatives, with goals of increasing enrollment, developing robust alumni relations, increasing brand recognition, and highlighting research efforts of the college.
  • Execute marketing strategic plan in collaboration with key university and college stakeholders.
  • Direct fiscal management of College marketing budget.
  • Hire, train, supervise and evaluate full-time staff and student workers.
  • Procure and manage outside vendor contracts for niche marketing and communication services.
  • Develop streamlined work processes to improve team workflow and capacity.
  • Develop content that aligns with university and college marketing strategy.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry specific trends by attending training and conferences.
  • Provide college-level guidance and support to departmental communications personnel and serve as the primary liaison to Division of Communication and Marketing for university-level communications.
  • Develop and maintain key relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Internal – department leadership, alumni and Foundation partners, university communications and marketing teams. External – alumni, vendors, corporate partners, industry stakeholders.
  • Provide training, workshops and listening sessions to stakeholders regarding college branding.
  • Report to the Deans Advisory Council, as requested.
  • Serve on various university and college level committees.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree and five to 10 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in managing marketing campaigns integrating social media
  • Familiarity with marketing strategies for university audiences
  • Familiarity with digital communications and marketing strategies
  • Expertise in content creation relevant to the college (i.e. video production, writing for agriculture, web publishing, and graphic design)

Additional licenses / registrations / certifications:

  • Drivers License
