About This Role

K-State Olathe (https://olathe.k-state.edu/) seeks an Event Services Assistant to support the Event Manager in delivering professional meetings, conferences, educational programs, and special events at the Kansas State University Olathe Campus. The Event Services Assistant coordinates daily event details, room preparations, catering and beverage services, and other event logistics. They maintain accurate reservations and event information in EMS, tracking deadlines and managing approved changes. The Event Services Assistant role provides professional, hospitality-focused communication and support for clients, guests, vendors, and campus partners, and supports on-site event operations while handling routine event needs.

Worksite Description

This position is Hybrid eligible. Hybrid work schedule will be determined in coordination with the supervisor based on operational and business needs.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

• A high school diploma (or equivalent)
• One year of relevant experience.
• Requirements may be met through a combination of work experience and education.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of experience in the hospitality industry or equivalent experience.
• Prior experience in food service, catering and/or events.
• Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications, including Word, Excel, and Publisher.
• Committed to consistently providing a high standard of excellence.
• Maintains a positive, solutions-oriented attitude.
• Demonstrated ability to remain composed under pressure while collaborating effectively with others.
• Ability to independently make decisions surrounding events, with good judgment and discretion.
• Ability to communicate professionally via email, phone, and in-person.
• Ability to juggle multiple events and tasks concurrently.

Additional Role Information:

• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, early mornings, evenings, and weekends as scheduled events require.
• Ability to transport over 40 lbs. Frequent carrying, pushing, and pulling over 40 lbs.
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time; ability to walk extensively.
