About This Role

The Office of Student Financial Assistance seeks individuals interested in joining our processing team.  Responsibilities include: manage the federal and state work-study programs, manage the tuition assistance programs, assist with awarding financial aid, and research regulations governing the treatment of federal student aid when a student withdraws from the university.

Tasks to be performed include:

  • Responds to inquiries from students and employers, verifies student eligibility, makes awards within the student system, and collect/reviews Federal Work-Study position descriptions for accuracy.
  • Monitors the fund to ensure our annual allocation stays within budget. Maintains accurate accounting records and assist with monthly reconciliation.
  • Responsible for all fiscal actions, such as depositing funds, processing reimbursement Agency Payment Vouchers (APVs), reconciling the account, and completing the annual report.
  • Reviews applications and verifies eligibility for the tuition assistance programs. Communicates with the student or employee if application is incomplete or if eligibility issues are found.
  • Gathers, analyzes, and interprets student-specific data necessary to perform the R2T4 calculation for students that withdraw.
  • Serves as a team member responsible for awarding financial aid. Reviews reports, research eligibility, produces financial aid notifications.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • 3 years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates degree or higher
  • 9 or more months work experience in a student financial aid office.
  • 12 or more months work experience performing accounting, budgeting, finance or banking related tasks.
  • Able to research, analyze, interpret, and explain complex regulations and/or policies.
  • Effective verbal and written communication to enhance exemplary customer service skills.
  • Previous work experience utilizing comprehensive student information system or similar technology.

Other Requirements:

  • Incumbent may not be in default on a federal student loan and/or owe a federal grant overpayment.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship
