About This Role

Our Housing and Dining Services Facilities Management grounds team create and maintain a safe, aesthetically pleasing outdoor environment enjoyed by the K-State community—and we’re looking for a Landscape Technician II to be part of this team.

In this hands-on role, you’ll help protect and enhance campus landscapes through expert care of turf and plant materials. From identifying and treating pests to supporting landscape installations and seasonal campus operations, your work will directly contribute to maintaining the welcoming environment that students, faculty, staff, and visitors experience every day.


What You’ll Do:
• Diagnose and treat diseases, weeds, and insect issues affecting turf grass and landscape materials
• Apply best management practices for landscape and turf care
• Identify, monitor, assess, and control pest populations using appropriate products
• Evaluate and select treatments for weeds and insects
• Assist with landscape and hardscape installation projects
• Perform general grounds maintenance
• Transport furniture, equipment, and materials as needed
• Help keep campus safe during winter by removing snow and ice and treating outdoor surfaces before, during, and after inclement weather

Worksite Description

This position is On-site.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires six months of relevant experience. Requirements may be met through a combination of education and experience.
  • Valid drivers license upon employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with grounds/pest related chemicals and their application
  • Familiarity with turf grasses and other landscape materials
  • Experience working in an institutional grounds maintenance unit
  • Familiarity with a variety of equipment and tools used in grounds maintenance
  • Ability to read, interpret and work from sketches, blueprints and specifications
  • Ability to complete concise and accurate reports and records
  • Ability to plan and organize work
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Prefer high school graduation/GED
  • Ability to interact effectively with others

Additional Role Information:

  • Must obtain a Commercial Pesticide Applicators certificate in 3A and 3B within 6 months of appointment.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.
