About This Role

This position exists to perform maintenance to utilities, roads, sidewalks, curbs, lights, parking lots, signs, street sweeping, and snow removal.

About Us

The Utilities and Plant Management Department is responsible for providing heating and cooling to buildings by utilizing district steam and chilled water from our central plants. Additionally, the department oversees all utility infrastructure, including electrical, natural gas, water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer. Furthermore, they manage roads, parking lots, sidewalks, and all outdoor lighting.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires one year of relevant experience.
  • Various training and/or certification may be required. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by a hiring manager.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to listen and work with detailed direction.
  • High school graduate or equivalent is preferred.
  • At least two years of experience in mechanical, heating/cooling ventilation (no certification), electrical, carpentry, and/or plumbing is preferred.

Additional Role Information:

  • Have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have the mobility to access small work areas (i.e., air handling units), climb ladders, and work in varying temperatures and heights.
  • Work involves considerable physical exertion to transport equipment/supplies weighing 50 pounds or more, unassisted, regularly, on a daily basis.
  • Daily: Hand tools, hand-operated electric tools, Socket sets, open-end wrenches, torque wrenches, current/circuit tracers, ohm/amp meters, grease guns, oil cans, ladders, state vehicles, computers. As required: Genie let, scissor left, JLG lift, Upright boom lift.
