About This Role

The Technical Director must oversee all technical requirements of productions, events and rentals that happen on the McCain stage, lobby and multipurpose areas. Advance dates with professional performance groups and rental parties. Secure and manage labor requirements for events that include both student and professional labor sources. Provide cost estimates for the technical requirements of the McCain Performance Series and rental dates. Manage and maintain all technical inventories used in the McCain Auditorium. Position will be required to work some nights and weekends.

McCain Auditorium is a cultural center for the live performing arts and hosts numerous campus and community engagement and entertainment activities. A variety of professional music, theater, and dance productions are held each season in the McCain Performance Series. Our mission is to serve the university and surrounding communities by presenting professional live performing arts programs and engagement activities that connect artists and audiences.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Five years of relevant experience. This position may use an educational equivalency as determined relevant by a hiring manager. Educational equivalency means that education and experience may be combined to fulfill the minimum qualifications. Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in theater
  • Relevant experience in a university performing arts venue/road house
  • Experience in stage rigging, lighting, sound, etc.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship
