About This Role

The Department of Mathematics at Kansas State University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2026. The term of appointment is one academic year, potentially renewable, subject to job performance and budgetary constraints. Applicants should have completed their Ph.D. in mathematics or a related area by Summer 2026 and should already have authorization to work in the United States before the start of employment.

The Department seeks candidates with outstanding records of undergraduate mathematics teaching and excellent research potential in areas that will complement the research of the permanent faculty. The load is two-two for the academic year and may require engagement in the summer activities of the department.

About Us

The Mathematics Department at K-State integrates research, education, and outreach. We offer graduate and undergraduate degrees and certificates. The bachelor's degrees include tracks in pure, applied, and actuarial mathematics.

The department is internationally recognized for its excellence in research. We are home to several active research groups which organize regular seminars, colloquia, and workshops.

Worksite Description

This position is On-site.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in mathematics or a related area (by hire date)

The degree requirement is necessary for accreditation purposes and to ensure candidates possess the specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities that can only be attained through a formal educational program at this level.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in undergraduate mathematics teaching
  • Excellent research potential in areas complementary to current department research (as demonstrated via application materials)

Sponsorship eligibility:

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship
